How to play Dummy

Dummy is one of Thailand's favourite card games. It uses a 52-card deck and, with two players, each gets 11 cards. The goal is to score the most by melding and to leave as few points as possible in your hand. A round ends when someone knocks or the stock runs out.

Meld a set (3–4 of a kind) or a run (3+ in a row of one suit)
Pick up from the discards: you take the card and every card discarded after it, and must meld the picked card right away
Lay off cards onto any meld on the table, yours or your opponent's. The points go to whoever lays off
Knock by discarding your last card for a bonus. Going out in a single turn is a dark knock: double bonus

Dummy scoring

A	15 pts
10 J Q K	10 pts
2–9	5 pts
Spe-to 2♣ and Q♠	50 pts

Head card: the first face-up card. Pick it up and meld it for +50
Fool discard: discard a card that could be laid off, and if your opponent melds it, you lose 50
Round score = melded points − points left in hand + bonuses

Quick Match: pick any of 5 rivals across 3 difficulty levels and the number of rounds

Tips to win at Dummy

Don't dump high cards early: an early A, K or Q often becomes a big meld for your opponent. Release them late
Watch for fool discards: if a card can be laid off on the table, lay it off yourself instead of discarding it
Track what your opponent picks up: cards taken from the discards reveal the sets they are building
Race when they are close: if your opponent is about to knock, meld and shed high cards before they count against you
