What is OX five in a row?
OX, or XO, comes in two forms in Thailand. The first is the 3×3 grid with three in a row. The second is five in a row on grid notebook paper, with lots of space and plenty of planning ahead. It is more fun and rarely ends in a draw. Internationally this version is known as Gomoku.
On NewSance Game you can play OX online for free: real-time random matches, private rooms with friends, and 3 AI levels in both five in a row and classic 3×3. The board is landscape on desktop and portrait on mobile.
Tips to win at five in a row
- Take the center. Central squares connect in the most directions.
- Build an open three. Three in a row with both ends free. If they do not block, you get an open four that cannot be stopped.
- Create a double threat. One move that threatens two lines at once. They can only block one.
- Block early. When they have an open three, cap one end immediately.
